Sometimes it looks like a long drive, sunshine, vineyard patches running into the foothills of Western Ghats and cascading backwaters.
All of it fit perfectly in a window of ‘Vallonné Vineyards– boutique wine estate’.
Tucked away 200-300 kms from Pune, Igatpuri (Nashik), it is a lesser known gem, full of scenic escapes, good food and spectacular wine.
Start early in the morning to beat the traffic. I would personally recommend carrying some picnic, cheese and picking fresh fruits along the way. Don’t forget to carry a mat or sheet spread. Side note, carvan can be your best mood setter.
Wine tasting or a cellar tour can cost you about Rs. 1000/- per couple where the tour may last about 45 minutes, covering 5-6 wines. Wait for their ‘Desert Wine’.
Vallonné kitchen is run by Malaka Spice, need I say more? However, consumption of alcohol is not permitted in the restaurant. Hence the picnic and the mat, remember?
You may buy some wine and make your way to find a spot on the estate to sip your evening away with the melting sky. Please check with the property manager before you go.
Come back to the hotel to one of the four rooms they offer (prior booking). A morning stroll in the Kavnai village, a dip in the backwaters of Mukhne dam and you are all set for the week ahead.
