As the National Tourism Awards were declared by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; Pune has a special reason to rejoice! City’s homegrown tourism brand, The Western Routes, has won a National Award for Responsible Tourism Project.
Founded by Jayesh Paranjpe in 2011, The Western Routes always looked at representing Maharashtra state uniquely to the tourists and curating unique traditional experiences for them in a highly responsible manner. The Founder, Jayesh, holds a masters in Environmental Science and masters in Responsible Tourism Management from the UK.
The Award was presented by the Honourable Vice President Of India, Mr. Jagdeesh Dhankar along with the Minister of Tourism, Mr. G. Kishan Reddy at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Also, it coincidentally happened that the award was presented on World Tourism Day, i.e. 27th September.
The primary focus of The Western Routes is tours in the different parts of Maharashtra themed around its culture, traditions, nature and heritage. Along with this, they also curate and conduct heritage, food and festival walks in Pune city. They have also ventured into creating curated itineraries across India themed around history, culture, wildlife and food.
