Jeevitnadi, also known as Living Rivers Foundation was inspired by prominent ecologist Late Shri Prakash GoleMultiple alumni of Ecological Society came together as founding members of this organisation in 2014 to work for revival of rivers in Pune. This was a group of individuals from diverse professional fields who were passionate about environmental conservation and their main focus was to change peoples’ perception about the rivers and bringing back the lost connection particularly in the urban areas.

With a motto of “My river, my responsibility”, this group believes that citizen action can help revive the rivers of Pune. To this end, the volunteers and team are responsible for raising public awareness about ecological river management as well as enabling toxin free living.

Jeevitnadi enables any interested citizen of Pune to do the following activities:

  1. River and nature walk: Explore the unexplored Mutha. Anyone can register to join the Muthai River Walk and understand river heritage.
  2. Adopt a stretch of the river: An action-oriented project, the idea here is to bring together good intentioned community members to take meaningful action towards river conservation.
  3. Wetland development: Wetland Development initiative for the wetlands in the riverbed of Mutha and Mula-Ram confluence region.
  4. Other events: Events by the River and for the river. Storytelling by the river, music programs, street-play, all these events bring people to the river. They help change perceptions towards the river and river-bed.

The organisation is entirely focused on saving the rivers of Pune. The work they do helps us understand the role, rivers play in our lives and helps us interact with them.

Now you too can play a part in bettering your home city.
