Ready to be a Geosphere Modifier? Sounds complex? It’s not! ‘Geosphere’ means Earth. ‘Modifiers’ means those who modify or convert. Geosphere Modifiers is a not for profit organisation that is attempting to modify or clean the hills and tekdis of Pune and to transform them and the waste they collect into something beautiful. The people who are a part of this initiative are passionate about cleaning the environment. On this Saturday the 26th of Feb between 8am and 11am, you can volunteer in one of their initiatives by meeting the others at ARAI Main Gate.
The main aim of this team is to help deal with waste that is otherwise just lying around polluting our spaces. To this end, they have multiple campaigns that they run.
Through Glassified, they upcycle glass bottles, paint them, do other forms of art and convert them into beautiful objects.
- The Nurture The Nature campaign is focused on the collection of waste
- The Clean Gad campaign as the name suggests is for the cleaning of Gads or Forts in and around Pune.
- They also run a campaign called ‘Hold my Board’ which is an awareness raising initiative. Through this, passionate people come together, create some communication boards with slogans and hold it up in public places to sensitize people to the issues of the environment.
All of their campaigns have one common goal – the collection of waste that would otherwise not find its way to a sorting and recycling facility, such as tyres, glass bottles, plastic bottles, and more.
Now you too can #NurtureTheNature. This Saturday 26th Feb, the Geospehere Modifiers are hosting a bottle hunt that promises to be a lot of fun while you do good. For more information, check out their Facebook page or call Rahul Sonawane on +91 9028760429.
