Started just 2 months ago located on Karve Road, this place has become a perfect spot to beat the heat this summer! Owner Kalpak Barve is a foodie and a Chef himself. Although whenever he ate dahi vadas at other food joints, they used to be either soggy or too hard to even cut with a spoon!
Well not too long, and Kalpak came up with this idea of an eatery dedicated to Dahi Vada, first of its kind! The secret behind their spongy vada is his mother’s recipe. All ingredients of this dish from Vadas to Chutneys are home-made with no preservatives or food colouring!
We tried their ‘Classic Dahi Vada’ and it was worth the effort we took! The Urad dal vada is so soft in texture that it can be cut with even a wooden spoon. One bite and it literally melts in the mouth. Extremely juicy and perfectly spiced, these vadas definitely have our heart. But let’s not forget the other half of this dish, ‘Dahi’ the other half, which completes the dish. A satisfying mixture of sweet and tangy spices and churned to perfection makes the curd thick and chilled. Not to forget the side heroes of the dish, spicy mint chutney and tangy tamarind-jaggery chutney is poured generously on top. To finish off, crispy sev and spicy boondi is sprinkled all over.
The next dish we tried was ‘Aloo Tikki Dahi Vada’. Sounds surprising? Well obviously it is unique as the name suggests. Two crispy and crunchy Aloo Tikki are dipped in sweet-creamy curd along with vadas. Completely 2 opposite textures, served in one dish is a savoury paradise for sure!
Their new take on typical ‘Dahi Vada’ is also worth a shot for sure! A variety of flavours such as Mango Dahi Vada, Tadka Dahi Vada and many more varieties are available at this joint on Karve Road.
