On the streets of Mandai, a 61-year-old kachori stall is something you shouldn’t miss. Agarwal Kachoriwale next to Datta Mandir sells Hot Kachoris, Samosas and Moong Dal Bhaji. But the best item to try here is their special Agra style Kachori!
Agarwal Kachori is currently run by Rakesh Agarwal. Three generations of the Agarwal family have been in this business for almost 61 years. Back in 1962, Rakesh ji’s grandfather Vishwambharnath Agarwal came from Agra and settled in Pune. Then Vishwambhar Nath ji and his wife Mathurabai started this stall of Agra style Kachori. Since then, Agarwal Kachori has been a favourite snack joint in Mandai.
These kachoris are huge and scrumptious enough to fulfil your snack cravings. The kachoris are stuffed with not so usual moong dal mash and deep fried. Well, what makes these kachoris special is their secret spices. These spices are blended with moong dal which gives a spicy and masaledar flavour! All the spices will hit your taste buds as they do not overpower each other and the moong dal mash. To add more crunch, the kachori is topped with crispy sev and accompanied with spicy green chutney and tangy tamarind chutney. This golden fried, huge kachori is served hot which makes it even more tempting to eat. Just one bite of this kachori and you can hear the perfect crunch and taste these spicy and chatpata flavours.
All these snacks are homemade and kept under a cotton cloth on the cart, which keeps it hot.
All these fried snacks are not just tasty but light on your pocket as well. Starting at just Rs. 20/- these snacks are a must when in Mandai. While enjoying these snacks you can also have a little talk with Rakesh bhai. This jolly person doesn’t hesitate to tell you the stories about his stall and a few more gupshup as well.
