Saurabh Sadanand Chandekar, a name very familiar in Pune and Mumbai’s art-circle, always took paths no one ever discovered! That’s what makes him an ace artist and an advertiser who brings a fresh perspective every time he creates something new.
Originally from Pune and settled in Mumbai, Saurabh Chandekar’s latest exhibition of illustrations was inaugurated at Khaki Lab by the Maharashtra cabinet minister, Mr. Aditya Thackeray yesterday in Fort, Mumbai. Let us tell you for sure that, if you’re a Punekar who has always fascinated by the magnitude of Mumbai, then you must pay a visit to this exhibition!
Saurabh wrote in his post, “With this work I have made a sincere effort to express my love for the city, which fascinated me over the past few years; through my art. #MumbaiInFrames exhibits the illustrations of 30 unseen, unheard places from the heart of the city, which are away from public gaze.”
Aditya Thackeray who belongs to a family of artists (and not just politicians) appreciated the illustrations of the places less explored by the people of Mumbai and wrote on twitter, “With great joy, I inaugurated Khaki Lab’s exhibition of Mumbai’s cultural heritage, sketched by Artist Saurabh Chandekar.
A special thanks to
for his love for the city’s history!”
Saurabh’s inspiration behind these illustrations is the Mumbai exploration tours arranged by Khaki Tours that he attended over last few months. “It was my budding curiosity in heritage & history which took me to #KhakiTours a few months back. I started attending their #HeritageWalks and that is where I began to rediscover Mumbai, and got all the new perspective to this subject.”, he writes.
The exhibition will be open for all on 11 – 26 December @Khaki Lab
