Music aficionados and followers of the annual Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mohotsav will be delighted with the announcement today by Shrinivas Joshi, Executive President, Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal, Pune, that the Sawai Gandharv Bhimsen Mahotsav organized by the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal shall take place between February 2nd and 6th, 2022.

Shrinivas Joshi, has recently appealed to Chief Minister and the deputy chief minister to allow this festival to be held on open grounds.

“I welcome the decision of Ajit Pawar, Guardian Minister of Pune District and the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra State to allow on ground cultural programs in the city of Pune and we thank him for the same. We also thank Pune City Mayor Murlidhar Mohol for taking up this matter with the Guardian Minister of Pune District. This decision is important to us considering the ongoing birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pt Bhimsen Joshi.
This would be the 68th edition of this iconic festival of Indian Classical Music which is often regarded as the biggest in the country. Just like the last 2 editions, the festival shall be organized at the Kataria High School grounds at Mukund Nagar. The earlier edition of the festival was held in December 2019.

Shrinivas Joshi, Executive President of the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal said, “The dates of the festival have been chosen in such a way that the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi ends with the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav. All the rules and regulations of the State Government applicable at the time of the festival shall be followed.”
