With just shorter routes, the first phase of the Metro didn’t quite feel useful to Punekars. But with these extended new routes, we travelled the new lines yesterday. Oh boy! The experience is absolutely seamless and actually saves time too! We can now proudly and officially call Pune truly a Metro city with Blue & Purple lines!!
After the inauguration on 1st August, we were quite eager to travel in the metro’s 2nd phase. With so many exciting features like World’s deepest underground metro station, Heritage themed Shivaji Nagar station, etc the whole Pune Metro experience is quite different than the others in the country!
We traveled from Shivaji Nagar to Pimpri’s Sant Tukaram Nagar station in merely 20 minutes. For those traveling between Pune and PCMC, this Purple line is a big boon! With a ticket price of just Rs. 30/- for a travel of about 15km, this metro ride is quite affordable too! The view of Pune greenery in this metro line travel is so soothing. We never knew that there’s so much greenery still remaining in our city!
Blue line of Pune Metro connects Kothrud directly to Ruby Hall station crossing Deccan Gymkhana and Pune Civil Court stations. This travel time is also just 20 minutes and the ticket price is also just Rs. 25/-. This line goes above riverfront and gives a beautiful view of of the monsoon riverbed, Sambhaji Garden, Shanivar Wada and the old cityscape.
While we traveled across both the lines, we could actually feel that the solution to Pune traffic has arrived. It is time people travel via Pune Metro. We could also see that daily commuters have already started using it to save time and for comfortable journey. We can proudly and officially call Pune a true Metro city!
