On the occasion of completing 50 years of staging its first show on 16th January 1972, the internationally acclaimed Marathi play ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’ has been made available for people to watch on YoutTube. Sangeet Natak Akadami has made this Jabbar Patel play available only till Sunday 18th December’22 night.
This original set of ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’ features actors like Dr. Mohan Agashe, Ramesh Tilekar, etc, music by Bhaskar Chandawarkar and singers like Ravindra Sathe, Anand Modak, etc. This play written by Late Vijay Tendulkar achieved a cult status in the 1980s for its controversial political content and travelled across Europe, Russia and USA.
For a generation of viewers of this era, they have heard about this play from the elders but never got a chance to witness it live nor was the original play available online as well. But now this is a golden opportunity for theatre lovers over the next two days only to watch this play online.
