Review:
It is absolutely a treat to watch 60 artists, each with his own caricature, create a grand spectacle on the stage.
Theatron Entertainment’s ‘Varta Varta Vadhe’ is a play which primarily focuses on the grand repercussions of a whisper and how a small news taken otherwise baffles the whole village.
The play starts off at a birthday party in the house of the Patil. They are eagerly waiting to surprise the birthday girl but what actually comes through that door is a miserable news which might turn their lives upside down forever. They seem to have no option left. Here is when the real drama begins as The Patil with the help of all the villagers try to get out that swamp.
There are a lot of subplots which unfold simultaneously in the background touching a few sensitive topics as well. Each and every character has a different repercussion to the news and to make the audience think about it within a few dialogues and in a hilarious way is quite an achievement.
Himanshu Pile as the Patil is the heart of Varta Varta Vadhe. His comic timing and his transitions to a serious tone works like magic. Director Suraj Parasnis and Writer Omkar Gokhale deliver a roller coaster ride full of laughter and you do laugh till your stomach aches.
The play does feel cliché and dragged by the end but the comedy and especially the quirky choice of music keeps it alive. The production design team deserves praise for managing 60 artists on stage and still running the show without a hiccup.
Varta Varta Vadhe is an absolute joyride presented in all its grandness by 60 artists and it deserves a watch.
