Review:

“Shivpratap Garudjhep” is yet another below average attempt to showcase the heroics of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the greatest warrior in Maratha dynasty. The recent films surrounding his stories of valour don’t do justice to his glorious theatrics and his salient history.

Reprising his role as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from the TV Series ‘Raja Shiv Chatarapati’, Dr. Amol Kolhe, is back to playing the titular role he played so brilliantly for years. But this time around, the magic seems to have lost a bit. The impact and hold he had a few years ago is missing. Yet the dialogue delivery is on point. A few dialogues will give you goosebumps for sure. Yatin Karyekar as Aurangzeb is not compelling enough as the evil, we all expect him to be.

Shivpratap starts off with poor execution. Helmed by Kartik Rajaram Kendhe as the director, the film feels lost in executing an engaging story into an enthralling film. The slow-paced screenplay doesn’t keep you engaged. VFX wherever used is very poor. The production design and sets look very artificial, And fails to recreate the 1700 period.

‘Shivpratap Garudjhep’ starts to a clip showing how Mughals started destroying Hindu culture after taking over Delhi. But someone needs to rise and save the culture. Then the film starts unfolding, telling us how Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj expanded his Swarajya to Delhi and his dream of making Marathas, the rulers of Hindustan.

Such stories which showcase events full of valour also need the backing of strong upbeat songs but Shivpratap Garudjhep seems to have no such song which will make you cheer. The composer’s experiment to use EDM tunes as background score doesn’t work at all. The dialogues are the best part of this film.
