The recently launched Savitribai Phule Pune University Museum of Cartoon Art is looking forward to bringing the cartoonist within you into the limelight.

On the occasion of ‘World Cartoonist Day’ on 5th May 2022, the SPPU has planned different events beginning with cartoon drawing competition open to all students enrolled in the University and affiliated colleges.

Only one entry per person will be accepted. Cartoon is to be submitted as scanned image as a .jpg file and 300dpi resolution and sent by email to museum.unipune@gmail.com by 1st May 2022.

The submitted cartoons will be printed on A4 size paper for display. Please ensure that the content and captions of your rendering will allow for size reduction. The participant should also mail full name and pen-name if any, full address, Institution/college in which enrolled, a statement to state that the cartoon submitted is your own un-aided work.

The entries will be judged by a panel of local cartoonists on 5th May  2022, and will be awarded  First Prize – Rs. 5000, Second Prize – Rs. 3000, Third Prize – Rs. 2000 besides additional Consolation Prizes as well as all participants will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’ in person if they attend the event, or mailed to them at a later date.

As part of the celebration of ‘World Cartoonist Day’, local amateur cartoonists are invited to submit one original or high-resolution copy of their work for display in the Museum of Cartoon Art.
The cartoon is to be handed over to the Curator of the Museum by 1st May 2022 after contacting the Museum via email at museum.unipune@gmail.com or call on 8766687468.

The submitted cartoons will be displayed in the Museum on 5th May 2022 for public viewing on the day of the event.

There is also a cartoon workshop for children, with one hour ‘Cartoon Drawing’ workshop will be conducted in the Museum of Cartoon Art for children between 8 years to 12 years.
