Vasantotsav, a platform bringing different music forms will be held in the city from 20 January to 23 January 2022 at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch.
Organized by Vasantrao Deshpande Prathishthan under the aegis of MIT World Peace University, this will be the 15th year of this festival.
“We are following all the protocols as prescribed by the local administration on the backdrop of pandemic shall be observed,” said Rahul Deshpande, grandson of late Vasantrao Deshpande and an acclaimed vocalist.
On Thursday, January 20, at 5 pm, the festival will begin with a duet by Nayan Ghosh and Ishaan Ghosh on Sitar and Tabla. The second performance of the day will be by L. Subramaniam and group (Violin Carnatic style).
On Friday, January 21, at 5 pm, Atulkumar Upadhye and Pravin Godkhindi will present a Violin and Flute jugalbandi. This will be followed by the performance of Aarti Anklikar Tikekar, a veteran vocalist from the Jaipur – Atrauli Gharana.
On Saturday, January 22, the festival will begin at 4:00pm with the performance of Classical Vocalist, Saurabh Kadgaonkar and shall be followed by a talk show by acclaimed film actor Nana Patekar. This day will conclude with the special program on light music titled ‘Rahul Deshpande Collective’ featuring Rahul Deshpande, Deepti Mate, Sanjoy Das, Ojas Adhiya, Milind Kulkarni, Anay Gadgil, Abhijit Badhe and Manish Kulkarni.
The last day of the Vasantotsav will also start at 4:00pm on Sunday, January 23rd with the performance of Nilesh Parab and Krushna Musale on Dholki. It will be followed by a program on Ghazals and semi classical music by acclaimed singer, Anup Jalota. The festival will end with the performance in Indian Classical Music by vocalist, Rahul Deshpande.
