Review
Marathi film industry has always been known for doing something different from the ongoing trends of cinema. But this time Sanjay Jadhav may have missed the mark completely.
Sanjay Jadhav has tried to encapsulate the musical theatre form in cinema. I say tried to because it hasn’t come off well at all. It miserably fails.
Just like a traditional Natak, we are from time to time embraced by Natee and Sutradhar who throughout the film visit us with various characters. They state what unfolds in front of our eyes by highlighting the double standards of the media.
The use of social media trolling, victim blaming, the mockery of journalism and exploiting the death of a woman to garner views are some key elements in the movie that succeeds to show the black side of media nowadays.
Another letdown was Jadhav’s camerawork. The visuals of the film give you a feeling of watching a play instead of a film. The lack of an engaging screenplay and the lack of a unique musical fails the film altogether.
Sonalee Kulkarni shines in her dance numbers but that is the only thing she does right. Other supporting cast members do not make their presence felt.
If you love something out of the box even if the implementation is poor then you should definitely go for it.
