There is excitement and there is palpitation among the team of the film Panghrun, with its young and first time lead actor Gauri Ingawale, being supported by singer actor Amol Bawdekar.

“This is the right time for the film to be released, for if it has been released earlier then people might have forgotten it,’ said Bawdekar.

Amol plays Antu Guruji, a kirtankar in the film, who is a widow with two kids. “This is a different role for me for I have always played saints, here I am portraying an elderly kirtankar who is kind and yet astute. Basically, I love period dramas and I love acting in historical films, giving my repertoire of films like Bajirao Mastani, Kulvadhu, Chatrapati Shivray, Anolakhi Disha , Sant Santaji Jagnade Maharaj, Rajmata Jijau, etc.”

Did he enjoy working along with Gauri, who is just 21 years old? He laughs. “It was more of a caring role and since it was Gauri’s first role, our camaraderie on and off set will tell you more of us enjoying the scenes.”

Gauri Ingawale, the young dancer and actor smiles and says of her co-star, “Amol is a very sweet person and he helped me tide over the pressure of this being my first film as a lead. He is also a brilliant singer and would sing during the scenes too.”

For Gauri, this film holds very dear to her heart, not just because it is her first lead role but also because her ‘papa’ a.k.a. Mahesh Manjrekar has directed it.

Gauri is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer from Nalanda University, and never thought of acting until Manjrekar cast her in Kutumb as a child actor. I have been dancing since age of 3 and was also a contestant on hindi dance show Chak Dhoom Dhoom,”said Gauri

In Panghrun, Gauri is playing Lakshmi, a young widow who remarries a man old enough to be her father. “It was challenging to act as a young widow and also as a mother of two in a period film. But papa and the rest of the team helped me throughout the film,” said Gauri.

“My character also loves to dance and in this film I get to perform ballet too as my father in the film is working with the Portuguese, where I get to learn a bit of western dance, which has been choreographed by Phulwa Khamkar,” she added.
