Here’s the most indigenious collaboration from Pune district! From the hearts of the farms and farmers of Purandar in association with the iconic Kayani Bakery, brings to Pune the most unique cake ever, red guava cake.
The project of bringing fresh produce from the farms of Purandar is a brain-child of Rohan Ursal. He comes from the background of farmers. Hence he knows how the limited shelf life of the products affect the overall profits of farmers. In January 2021, the company first started freighting figs pan-India and later to Europe and other countries. Later under the mentorship of Mr. Rustom Kayani, Rohan and the farmers made red-guava spread and Mr. Kayani loved it so much he decided to incorporate it in one of his cake recipes.
And that is how Punekars, we now have an amazingly unique and different cake to taste, Purandar Peru Eggless Cake! While we savor the cake, let’s look at the hard work of PHFPC and its 14 directors. All of them are farmers. They come from a humble yet determined background. Rohan Ursal used his expertise and academics to streamline their produce. They came up with this venture of preserving the GI awarded fruits from Purandar in spread format which is a work of art packaged impeccably.
Kayani Bakery, which is famous for its Shrewsbury biscuits, received an enthusiastic response to the Purandar Peru Cake launched in the Pune market. Guava growers are creating a new customer base. Cakes with real mango flavour are already popular in the market. Farmers have tried their hand at guava ice cream and now there is a guava cake.
The vegetarian cake made using this red Peru spread is now available at the Kayani Bakery counter all week long! Every cake purchased counts as a support to our local farmers of Purandar and motivates them to do more of such collaborations.
Kudos and a big shout-out for Kayani Bakery folks for bringing such an indigenous product to life and supporting an initiative! Refer the cake and the spreads to your friends and relatives in India and abroad. These come directly from the hearts of the farmers of Purandar and this will be our small gratitude for the hard work.
