Get a sneak peek into the unique Maratha history and the life of Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj at this newly opened museum in New Sangvi, Rudra Arts and Crafts Museum. This museum cum Studio will leave you stunned with its antique collection and the warm vibe.
Rudra houses artefacts and antiques like swords, pagdis, coins, rare books, and historical documents as well as a library equipped with books that explain the Maratha war history and the weapons in detail.
Entrance marked by an antique wooden door and you’re welcomed by a beautiful statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj just as you step in. An interesting collection of miniature swords adorning the walls, figurines of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, unique miniature pagdis perched on the shelves, replicas of Raj Shinghasans, rare historical books, wooden pillars and windows, full sized swords and a lot more.
“Our aim is to help people gain knowledge and awareness about our glorious history, the war heroes and the major role played by the weapons in attaining Swarajya. This museum will enable the young minds to come closer to our roots, our history and thus take pride in the same.” says Satyajit Arun Vaidya, owner of Rudra Arts & Crafts Museum.
The museum also has a superb display of miniature weapons ranging from ‘Patta’, wielded by the warriors to ‘Gurj’, a weapon used by the hordseriders for high ocatance action and a special body armour miniature worn by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during significant battles. Some unique ‘kataars’ meant for Diwan-E-Aam and Diwan-E-Khaas.
Replicas of the unique Rajshinghasana, flanked by wooden pillars with a regal backdrop, this corner has royalty written all over and makes for quite an interesting spot for getting clicked. It’s a great place to go if you want an insight into the glorious Maratha history and also to buy some priceless antiques pertaining to the same.
