The case in discussion here is Bharekar Kaka who has been making ‘Chatpata Matki Chiwda Bhel’ in Ganj Peth in Pune since 1986! It’s been 36 years, and one sweet gesture of him makes sure that his patrons keep coming back and new customers are awestruck! Every time he makes a fresh plate of bhel for you, he will make you try first. Then he will ask if the spice, salt and all other flavours are okay. As per your feedback, he will adjust the flavours and then will serve you the final plate!

Customers eating there since 1986 are still given a trial before every plate they order. Located just near Kasture chowk, ask for the old ‘Dagdi Shala i.e. stone school building’ and you will find his cart ‘Sainath Bhel’ right outside the school.
This bhel is also famous for its chatpata and spicy flavours along with freshness of ingredients. Chiwda is fried in-house and thecha made fresh every day! Combine all this together and your delicious Matki Chiwda Bhel is ready!!! Bharekar kaka is talkative and likes to chat up; so don’t hesitate to say “Ram Ram Kaka!”
