After the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had declared a Red Alert for Pune district due to torrential rains in the past week, Pune District Collector had issued Section 144 for tourist spots and the ghat section of the district. Now, with the sun finally breaking out, the order has been lifted. Finally, tourists can enjoy the weather without any restrictions.

The order had been issued to ban tourists visiting any tourist spots to avoid any kind of a mishap. Accordingly, all vehicles were prohibited in the ghat section as well as the gathering of five or more persons within a one kilometer radius of any tourist places and forts in the district had been banned.

During the monsoons, the Pune district becomes a hotspot for tourist destinations for its scenic locales such as riverside villages, historical places in the catchment areas of dams, forts and waterfalls.

Therefore, the administration had appealed to tourists to seek assistance from the local guides if they were new visitors and in the events of dense fog, to drive with their headlights and parking lights on and return to their base before 4pm.
