Now all you Punekars have a chance to harvest Turmeric, the life-enhancing spice, with your very own hands.
Where: Vinoba Bhave Janmasthan, Gagode, Pen – around 2 hours from Pune
When: Sunday 30th Jan and keep an eye out for future dates
Facilitated by: eCoexist Experiences
Last year, the lovely folks at eCoexist took a number of interested people to the Vinoba Bhave Ashram to harvest turmeric. After that, they not only dried and powdered the turmeric but also helped to market it.
Now you too have a chance to be part of a unique experience like this.
The Vinoba Bhave Janmasthan is a beautiful space where you can get a glimpse into village life while immersing yourself in the revolutionary teachings of Acharya Vinoba Bhave (the first Satyagrahi chosen by Mahatma Gandhi). Farming is central to life here and the community grows rice, turmeric, and ragi. They also grow other vegetables and legumes for their own needs. They eat what they grow. The farming here is organic, pesticide free and any additives that are used as fertilisers are completely natural.
eCoexist invites volunteers to join the sowing and harvesting activities at The Vinoba Bhave Janmasthan during various times during the year. This is a collective activity that enhances the sense of community, helps city dwellers from Pune and surrounding areas experience village life and is a huge help to the people running the Ashram.
