Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has taken to Twitter to ask residents to suggest a new spot in their vicinity, if not covered under patrolling. It will be then added to the My Safe Pune app , an initiative by Pune City Police to ensure effective patrolling by beat marshals and offer quick response to people during any incident of crime.
“We are getting a lot of good feedback from the residents and pointing us to new spots in areas like Dobarwadi, Kawde Mala near SopanBaug, Sinhagad college road near Katraj bypass road, Lokmat office near Rajyog Society, Wadgaon sheri vegetable market , Napier road, Shivarkar garden, Wanowrie, Vimannagar, Balewadi, Moze college, Bavdhan,” said Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta.
“We have added these spots to the already existing spots, where our Marshals can move within 100 feet of the spot,” said
Commissioner.
This app is the brainchild of Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta tracks the movements of the beat marshals at all police stations and records various details, such as the spots they visit, along with the time of the visit during patrolling.
As per guidelines, beat marshals would have to take their own selfie after reaching a crime scene and upload it on the app, which was tried and tested successfully in city police’s jurisdiction of Zone 4 under the guidance of DCP Pankaj Deshmukh.
