With the fresh spell of rain today, the showers must have left everyone with a myriad of feelings. The weather may be grey outside but the only way to beat the blues is to be upbeat. Feel rejuvenated in a whole new way again and enjoy the monsoons the way they should be! But first, refresh yourself with a cutting chai! Today, we bring to you our list of 10 unusual places serving everyone’s favourite beverage, Chai below Rs. 20! Mind you, this is in no way an exhaustive list.
1.Ambika Amrutulya, Bajirao Road:
You have to be a die-hard chai lover to reach this place as finding a parking place is a pain right in the middle of Shanipar Chowk on Bajirao Road. But this small place inside the building next to Bank of Maharashtra is all worth the effort you will take to have this tea. The special masala he makes for chai will make you go for one more cup.
Address: Opp Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale, Shanipar Chowk, Bajirao Road.
2.Chintu Ki Chai, Deccan:
This one is quite famous but still not known to many in the city. For the sheer convenience this small stall near Z Bridge offers, it gets a place in our list. The chai is not something to rave about here but the quirky name paired with the sexy location, this again is a must visit whenever you are near Deccan for your shopping!
Address: Off JM Road, Near Z Bridge, Deccan.
3.Jai Amba Tea, Camp:
This rather secretive tea joint is located in one of the bylanes on MG Road. Located between MG Road and Taboot Street, this is one place which does care about visibility. Break away from the hustle and bustle on MG Road and walk in here for a piping hot Adkrak ki Chai in its quiet surroundings.
Address: Off MG Road, Behind Bombay Store, Camp.
4.Shree Mayureshwar Bhuvan, Karve Road:
This quaint Amrutulya on the busy Karve Road is the ultimate place to have chai on a rainy evening. Catch up with your friends here and sip on their hot elaichi tea while being seated in their open, windowless place and watch traffic go by. Pair the tea with a cream roll and go ummmm. Simple pleasures.
Address: Opposite Garware College, Karve Road.
5.Muralidhar Darshan, Sadashiv Peth:
Exactly in the heart of Sadashiv Peth and opposite to Heritage Khunya Murlidhar Wada, this one does a sexy job for the cutting chai. We simply loved it.
Address: Opp Khunya Murlidhar Wada, Sadashiv Peth.
6.New Vaijnath, Narayan Peth:
Right opposite to Ahilyadevi Highschool in Narayan Peth, New Vaijnath caught our attention the moment we saw huge crowds standing outside waiting for the one cutting. This is what we call ‘love and addiction at the same time’. Not to forget the real thing, Chai, is really good.
Address: Opp Ahilyadevi High School, Narayan Peth.
7.Sai Prasad, Lokmanya Nagar:
Located near Kaka Halwai on Shastri Road, you might find Sai Prasad thronged with people at any hour of the day. Their cutting chai with a good hint of ginger is the equivalent of a Special Tea with its generous milk content.
Address: Near Kaka Halwai, Shastri Road, Lokmanya Nagar, Navi Peth.
8.Somnath Tea House, Budhwar Peth:
This one is located next to Sakal Office in Budhwar Peth. A very small tappari but according to us, this one deserves to be called the best Amrut-Tulya Chaha in Pune. Simply for the thickness and a perfect blend of masalas used.
Address: Opp Sakal Office, Bhau Rangari Road, Budhwar Peth.
9.Samrat Tea Centre, Nal Stop:
Another ‘wow’ chai which found this place in this list since it is exactly in Nal Stop chowk outside Shaukeen Pan and it is that typical Rajsthani Maharaj style chai which needs a lot of ‘ghotaai’.
Address: Meenal Arcade Corner, Nal Stop, Kothrud.
10.Tilak, Tilak Road:
This one is a legend and we can’t afford not to include this name as this one our all time favourite too. Just look at the huge crowd sipping on the chai and there is no need to tell you that ‘Tilak Cha Chaha’ is awesome!
Address: Ahead of Tilak Smarak Mandir, Off Tilak Road.
