It’s that time of the year, when we all look forward to the festival of Holi. This also means it’s time for thandai, the delicious festive drink. Usually made with milk, almonds, watermelon seeds, fennel seeds, pepper corn, rose petals, cardamom, khus seeds, saffron and sugar, some people also like to add dates, pistachio and some cream as well.
My take on the Thandai Cocktail is filled with flavours of Litchi, creaminess of Vanilla Ice-cream & garnished with frozen Mango cubes with Cinnamon powder sprinkled on it & Of course spiked with your very own Indian Old Monk Dark Rum…
The main ingredient is Thandaai powder that you will get from a quite a few brands like Two Mad Cookks, Thakorjee, and quite a few other commercial brands have their thandai syrup as well! (While using syrup, watch out for the quantity of sugar you put in)
Variations that can be used is as below :-
Instead of litchi syrup you can use Pinacolada syrup from Mapro.
Instead of Vanilla Icecream you can use Butterscotch Icecream with pieces in it (as it adds to the crunch).
Instead of Thandaai powder you can also Thandaai syrup but believe me the flavours of this small bottle from Two Mad Cooks definitely cannot be substituted by any other…
So here’ wishing everyone a Happy Holi!! Stay Home. Make a Thandaai Cocktail.
And “Tullee ho” !!!
