Imagine entering a restaurant and ordering traditional homely style Maharashtrian and Konkani dishes like The Dadpe Pohe or Fanas che cutlet. Udupi Pure Veg World on Karve Road has brought to Pune a unique take on such regional dishes!

We tried few dishes that made us wonder, that how can a restaurant name Udupi serve these kind of dishes? First we tried The Kothimbir Wadi seekh, which was a special innovation with a unique twist on the traditional Maharashtrian snack. The wadi resembled the good old seekh kebab! The outer layer was crispy, well-seasoned and garnished with Sesame seed. When we took a bite, the inside was soft and juicy. It was spicy and Zanzanit to the taste!

Next we tried the The Fanas Che Cutlet which is made with raw jackfruit. It was deep fried and had a beautiful golden brown and crispy rawa coating. It stood out as it was equally sweet and spicy! We have always tried mom made Dadpe Pohe at home, but imagine ordering it in a restaurant! It was light and flavourful as it was made fresh and had the perfect balance of coconut, lemon, pomegranate and crunchy peanuts. Lastly, we had the amsul saar, which was a tangy and sweet kokum drink full of refreshing power! It paired perfectly with all the dishes we tried. It had a deep maroon colour and was topped with a chilly tadka.

This new restaurant has spacious indoor-outdoor seating with a cosy ambiance. It is perfect spot for family meals or casual outings with friends. Udupi Pure Veg World serves a multi cuisine menu and we would recommend checking their Maharashtrian section out!
