Since 1993, Kavi Restaurant and Bar on Karve Road has been the “basaychi jaaga” for all Kothrudkars. This bar is famously referenced as the “cool uncle bar” in Urbanly’s episode of “पुण्याचे Local Heroes”.

In this episode of “पुण्याचे Local Heroes” our host Namrata and our guest, Instagram’s favourite and loved, sassy Marathi Kaka, Aditya Kakodkar spent a pleasant evening at Kavi bar. Aditya was introduced to this popular bar by his then girlfriend, who is now his wife! Since then, Kavi has become his go to spot. He claims to have had a lot of creative ideas and breakthroughs at this very place! While sharing a delicious meal, Namrata and Aditya talk about this 31-year-old popular  women friendly bar. Irrespective of the gender, one can just chill in this bar without being bothered. This is the very reason that makes it a perfect place to unwind after a long stressful day

Kavi bar is a perfect bar for regular drinkers as it is very pocket friendly with a seamless and prompt service, with every glass refilled even without asking. The free ‘chakna’ with beer and other alcohols is the highlight, especially the vegetable salad made with cut cucumber and carrot.

Aditya recommended The Cheese Garlic Naan as the ideal bar snack calling it life changing for Namarata. The other dishes that they tried and loved were the The Surmai Tawa fry which stood out as it was fried to perfection with Shetty style masalas with unique fried onion garnish. While The Chiken Ghee Roast contained the warmth and flavour that satisfied the soul, living up to its reputation as “perfection on a plate.” The owner also recommended The Kala Rassa with Indrayani Rice which was a perfect blend of flavour and spicy and a perfect comfort food to end this meal. This combination of good beer and very good food makes this cool uncle bar stand out in this modern times.

Kavi Restaurant and Bar, stands as a testament to time. Now in the hand of this second generation owner, this bar has undergone thoughtful renovations. Making sure to have modernised as per current trends, they have maintained the nostalgic touch through their food and service.
