Shengolya’s dough is primarily made with Hulge (horsegram), shaped into a coil, and then cooked in the same pulse’s simmering broth, flavoured with red chili powder and turmeric. Made fresh every day and severed hot, it hits the spot in every Maharashtrian’s heart. Shengolya has various health benefits as it is high in protein and fiber content. It is commonly eaten during the winter season. Shengolya is a staple in the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra.

The owner of Vandita restaurant has brought her aaji’s original Shengolya recipe to Pune city. We tried this delectable dish, which is available only after 12pm and is prepared in a limited quantity. Shengolya is now added permanently to the menu due to the rise in demand and popularity.
