Mallu Stories on Dhole Patil Road, Pune, has been there for quite some time now! It’s been known for its traditional Malayali dishes and a must-visit for anyone craving Kerala food in Pune. So we decided to go and try this place!
When we visited Mallu Stories, we tried some of their best dishes that represent the essence of Kerala cuisine. The highlight of our meal was a dish named Chattichoru! Trust us, we had never ever seen or tried this dish before! But it is a known platter for Keralites! So it’s basically a traditional Kerala Matta rice bowl loaded with fish and chicken fry, omelette, fish curry, sambar, and the ever-popular buff fry! Served on a terracotta plate, this dish is a wholesome feast in itself.
We then had the Surmai Fish Fry, a coastal delicacy where fresh kingfish is marinated with a blend of spices and tawa-fried to perfection. The outer layer is crispy, while the inside is tender and bursting with flavours. It’s a dish that brings the best of Kerala’s taste!
Next, we ordered the Bangda Fish Fry, another seafood delight featuring mackerel marinated in traditional spices and tawa-fried until golden brown. The taste is distinctly Malayali, with the perfect balance of heat and tang, making it a favourite among seafood lovers.
The Prawns Roast with Hot Appam is an unmissable combination. The prawns are roasted in a rich, spicy masala paired with the soft, lacy appam is savoury! This dish is sure to leave you craving for more.
So what’s the verdict? We say Mallu Stories successfully captured our heart. The food satiated our taste buds and the Kerala food couldn’t be more authentic! Whether you’re a native Malayali or someone looking to explore Kerala’s rich culinary traditions, this restaurant offers an experience that’s both authentic and delightful. Do visit!
